Our Story
TAT Accountant was established in 2007 to give South African business owners access to qualified, dependable accounting support without the complexity or cost of building an in-house finance function. Over the years, we have grown our service offering and our team, but our core focus has remained the same. We exist to help small and medium-sized businesses operate with financial confidence.
Erasmus Pretorius is the founder and managing member of TAT Accountant. A Chartered Accountant with over 23 years of experience, Erasmus has spent his career working with privately owned businesses across South Africa, helping them streamline their accounting systems, implement sound tax strategies, and build the financial structures that support sustainable growth.
His background spans auditing, taxation, and financial management, with a focus on practical solutions over theoretical frameworks. Erasmus understands that the business owner’s primary concern is rarely the accounting itself, it is what the accounting reveals, enables, and protects. His approach is built around that reality: structured, efficient, and oriented towards the long-term success of the businesses he works with.
Erasmus is a registered professional with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and brings both the technical depth of a Chartered Accountant and the commercial understanding of someone who has spent decades advising business owners at every stage of their journey.

We use Xero as our primary cloud-based accounting platform. Xero gives clients real-time visibility into their financial data from any device with an internet connection. We also use Dext (formerly Receipt Bank) for pre-accounting and document management, and Spotlight Reporting for management reporting and forecasting.
